  • Which technology is Tip Crop based on ?

    Tip Crop is a modular Controlled Environment system. In the early part of the product definition, we decided to stay away from expensive liquid solutions or pods and instead let our customers choose the growing medium best suited for them:soil, grow mats (rockwool)

  • Will I be able to plant my own seeds ?

    Yes of course. We will offer bulk seed prices through our partners in each country on the website, but you can also keep using the seeds you like.

  • Can I grow more than one type of plant at a time ?

    Yes, as long as the plants you selected have similar growing requirements.

  • How long will the LEDs last ?

    The running lifetime provided is 30 000 Hours. Even running continuously, you will enjoy 3 years of growing. Since LED technology constantly improves, by 2020 you will also be able to purchase LEDs with better efficiency, resulting in lower power consumption.

  • What is the maximum plant height ?

    One size does not fit all; In the consumer version, you can grow plants up to 25 cm high (1 Unit – 1 U) in the Quantum Core; in the server rack version, you can select versions with 50 cm ( 2 U) or 75 cm (3U).

  • Is Artificial Intelligence really needed for growing plants ?

    The advantage of combining Controlled Environment Agriculture with the Internet of Things is that by collecting data and applying machine learning, we will identify the main factors enabling the best plants characteristics, be it taste, nutrition, flower quality etc...Having optimal parameters for each growth stage, we hope you will feel the 'Wow' effect everytime you use TipCrop.

  • What are the estimated running costs ?

    Each Tip Crop Quantum Core has a 50 Watt Power Supply, so if you turn the LEDs on for 20 hours per day, this costs 50 W x 20 h = 1 kWh . Depending on your provider, this costs about Pound 0.14 per day in the UK.

  • Besides herbs, miniature vegetables or flowers, what is planned next ?

    It is our intent of course to provide our customers with the widest variety of LED grown plants and optimized growth factors impacting taste and nutritional value.
    We will conduct surveys on a regular basis to determine what is important for you; we are actively looking at research work done on the impact of wavelength for new exciting crops such as tea leaves or mushrooms.
